I am doing this at cost as a public service and the plan always was to donate any excess money to MLHS.
Because the number of shirts ordered for the first printing was so much larger than anticipated the per shirt cost was much less than budgeted. I also utilized a discounted postal service for mailing the shirts my sister, Nancy Horvath '81, pointed me to. In the end I collected a little over $700 more than was spent.
I contacted the current MLHS principal Richard Mangili and mailed a check for $700 to the school on September 5th. Principal Mangili explained that the Board of Education must approve any donations to the school and he will seek approval at an upcoming Board of Education meeting. Once approval is obtained the money will be used where it can do the most good. In the letter accompanying the check I requested input to how the money is spent but suspect that level of participation will be excessively burdensome on the school staff. In any case it will be communicated back to me how the money is spent and I will add that information to this web page once it is received.
Any excess funds from the second shirt printing will also be donated to the school. I expect a smaller surplus than was the case for the first printing due to the fact I have a better understanding of the costs and fewer shirts are expected than the first printing.
